Searchers Song
I was reflecting on what it would mean to truly know people the way God does—to know every name, every face, and the condition of every heart. I realized that if I knew people that deeply, I wouldn’t be distant or indifferent toward them. I would be invested in their future, protective of their well-being, and hopeful for the direction of their lives—much like a mother toward her children. And that’s exactly what God is like.
That thought stayed with me. Not as something overwhelming, but as something profoundly reassuring: that nothing sincere is hidden from him, and nothing honest is overlooked.
Scripture captures this so tenderly. “No greater joy do I have than this: that I should hear that my children go on walking in the truth.” (3 John 4) And Jesus—who perfectly reflected his Father—expressed the same care when he said, “How often I wanted to gather your children together the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings.”
This new song “I Know the Searchers” was inspired by that understanding.
The Bible reminds us that God does not merely observe from a distance. He searches hearts. He discerns the inclinations of our thoughts. And he invites those who truly seek him to draw near and be found.
This song is for the quiet moments of searching—when questions rise before answers do, and when reflection feels safer than certainty. It is not meant to push or persuade, but to create space for stillness, clarity, and hope.
Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I have heard your whispers, your secret desires
For I’m always list’ning to ev’ry prayer
I’ve heard throughout the ages
A trillion broken pleas
I see all of your faces
Reflecting all of your dreams
Yes, I know you feel like strangers
Walking far from where I stand
Still, I see your face and wonder
Do you know whose child you are?
[Chorus]
I know the searchers, hungry for truth
I hear their questions – bursting forth
I watch my children look for me still
I know the searchers — and always will
[Verse 2]
Some ask for power, some for safety
Some for names the world will praise
Some ask love they can command
Some ask heaven bless their ways
I ask for hearts that want the truth
Not flattery dressed as faith
I ask for those who’ll learn to love
Before it’s far too late
[Pre-Chorus]
I gave you more than you could see
I paid the cost you never knew
And still I wait without demand
For you to want me too
[Chorus]
I know the searchers, hungry for truth
I hear their questions – bursting forth
I watch my children look for me still
I know the searchers — and always will
I know the searchers, hungry for truth
I hear their questions – bursting forth
I watch my children look for me still
I know the searchers — and always will
