Making Jewelry
A Hobby That’s Become a Quiet Joy
There’s something deeply satisfying about shaping something beautiful with your own hands. For me, that “something” is jewelry.
What started as a relaxing hobby quickly turned into a creative outlet that I truly cherish. From designing my own beads to working with a local jeweler to bring pieces to life, every item I create has a little story behind it — and often, a little prayer too.
The Process
- Inspirational idea
- Design
- Home crafting or sending to my local jeweler.
Some of the techniques I use include:
- Bead crafting (some beads I hand-make myself)
- Wire shaping and detailing
- Stone setting (often in collaboration with a local jeweler)
- Custom gold and silver designs
- Occasional gem pairings based on symbolic meaning or color harmony
Each piece takes time, care, and a whole lot of patience — but the result is worth it.
A Few Pieces I’ve Made
Some of my favorite pieces include:
- 13 precious and semi-precious gemstones set next to each other in stackable gold rings; a similar designed necklace
- Earrings with a small faux segments of pomegranate (a dash of crimson)
- A fiery opal pendant (that sparkles like a party disco mirror ball and is one of the few lab created stones I own)
- A gold chunky necklace with a chain and lion pendant worn over my heart
Each one is different — and while I don’t sell them (yet!), in future, I am sure some of my pieces will make great gifts for friends and family!
Why I Love It
Jewelry making is more than an aesthetic craft — it’s meditative. It’s tactile. It brings quiet joy and lets me reflect while I create.
Sometimes I listen to music while I work. Other times, I sit in silence.
But more often than not, I find myself thinking about life, people, and yes — deeper things.
That’s where the inspiration for my song Sea of Gold began…
But I’ll save that story for the next post. ?
Coming Soon…
In my next blog post, I’ll share how these creative moments turned into a personal reflection on wealth, value, and the kind of gold that can’t be worn.
