Hallelujah
Hallelujah – Why Praise God?
What does “Hallelujah” actually mean?
This simple yet powerful word appears throughout scripture — and it means “Praise Jah,” or “Praise Jehovah.”
Jehovah is God’s personal name, found thousands of times in ancient manuscripts, and using it in our prayers and songs draws us closer to Him.
This song is a joyful call to praise the Creator — Jehovah, the Most High — for His works, His justice, His Son, and the glorious hope He has promised. Let’s explore what some of the lyrics mean:
✦ “Great is Your Son”
Jesus is Jehovah’s appointed King. He gave his life as a ransom to redeem humankind from sin and death. By submitting to God’s will and remaining loyal even unto death, he was entrusted with rulership over God’s Kingdom — a real heavenly government that will soon set all things right.

✦ “When You Raise the Dead”
The resurrection hope is not symbolic — it’s real. The Bible assures us that Jehovah will call the dead from their sleep and restore them to life. This promise brings comfort to millions who have lost loved ones.

✦ “Bring Paradise”
On the stake, Jesus turned to a criminal who showed faith and said:
“Truly I tell you today, you will be with me in Paradise.”
Was Jesus inviting him to rule in heaven? Or was he affirming something more fitting: that this repentant man would be part of a future earthly paradise, when God’s original purpose is restored?
From the beginning, Jehovah intended the earth to be a peaceful home. He placed Adam and Eve in a paradise garden and told them to “fill the earth” — not rule in heaven. His purpose hasn’t changed.
