The Eagle Flies Lyrics
? This song about fulfilled prophecy is inspired by Deut. 28:49
This song is a poetic retelling of the moment Israel stood between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim—facing the weight of covenant blessings and curses. It traces the haunting prophecy of Deuteronomy 28:49, where God warns that an eagle-like nation would rise against His people as judgment for unfaithfulness. That eagle has flown… again and again… according to His timetable.
? Inspired by:
Deuteronomy 28:49 – “Jehovah will raise up against you a distant nation… it will pounce like an eagle.”
Matthew 24:28 – “Wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered.”
Daniel 9:27 – “On the wing of disgusting things, the desolator comes…”
This is not just a song—it’s a reminder:
God’s warnings are not forgotten. His word will be fulfilled. From ancient Ra of Egypt, Ashur, Anzu and Marduk, Ahura Mazda, Zeus, and then Jupiter – the chief god of Rome, we’ve seen this overlooked scripture proven again and again in the Levant.
We’ve also seen this scripture fulfilled in the Roman empire’s growth throughout Europe, seemingly reborn again after the Ottoman Empire’s defeat in the first world war. However, the Roman empire’s presence has been continuously felt from the Crusades to the Inquisition. From its architecture to its infrastructure; arts, science, sports, violent entertainment, law and government – this Roman Empire and its culture has been woven into the very fabric of our modern-Western world.
Lyrics
[Verse 1]
At Gerizim and Ebal we stood,
Two mountains—curse and promised good.
The voice of Sinai echoed still,
A call to follow God’s own will.
The law was set in stone that day,
Our blood-bound oath not to betray.
But high above, without a sound,
An eagle’s shadow turned around.
[Chorus]
The eagle flies when God allows,
Not early, late, or lost in clouds.
It rises when the warnings fail,
When covenant hearts grow cold and still.
Its shadow cast by God’s own will,
A sign His word will yet fulfill.
[Verse 2]
The first flew in from Egypt’s flame,
A falcon bearing Pharaoh’s name.
Then Babylon with wings of pride,
Took Zion’s sons and turned the tide.
The law was torn, the temple burned,
And all was lost we hadn’t learned.
The eagle watched with silent cry—
A warning written in the sky.
[Chorus]
The eagle flies when God allows,
Not early, late, or lost in clouds.
It rises when the warnings fail,
When covenant hearts grow cold and still.
Its shadow cast by God’s own will,
A sign His word will yet fulfill.
[Verse 3]
Then Persia’s god on wings appeared,
With laws that every nation feared.
And Greece brought Zeus, the eagle’s king,
With thunder in his offering.
Then Rome arose with banners bold,
Its eagle cast in iron and gold.
But still it flies, beyond the page—
A sign of judgment age to age.
[Chorus]
The eagle flies when God allows,
Not early, late, or lost in clouds.
It rises when the warnings fail,
When covenant hearts grow cold and still.
Its shadow cast by God’s own will,
A sign His word will yet fulfill.
[Dan 12:4]
